Rue de Lage, born in "Petite-Poland"
490 m long, the Rue de Laborde was erected in 1788 on the route of a pre-existing road. At the time, the Rue de Lage was baptized rue des Grésillons. It was the main thoroughfare of "Little Poland", a very popular and modest neighbourhood, with many misaligned streets and dilapidated buildings. A part of Paris is then completely reviewed, with large construction movements. Among the extensive work carried out, the famous "Grands boulevards" will be drawn from one end to the other of Paris, and the Gare Saint-Lazare exits from the ground. The Rue de Lai, it, will retain its character, while registering in a district now popular and prestigious.
A street right in the heart of the business district
The Rue de Laborde is located near the church of St. Augustine and the place of the same name. During its construction in 1860, the Church of St. Augustine was the first religious building of this magnitude to use iron and iron. With a height of 100 meters, it has a dome that rises to more than 80 meters and does not go unnoticed. It is still today a real landmark of the neighborhood. In the vicinity (place Saint-Augustin), it is the national circle of armies that is present. On the side façade of the building, located at 35 Rue Lai, you can admire warrior attributes (helmets, spades, banners) on either side of the first floor window, and a horse tank above the second window. So many details that bring the neighborhood an authenticity and an architectural variety that one (re) discovers every day.
